Customer Comments About Their 2010-2011 Aspen Mogul Skiing Clinic Experience

We encouraged customers to optionally provide us candid feedback as part of our customer satisfaction survey. Here are 100% of the "free form" comments we received based upon the following question:

Describe how you felt about your participation in the 2010-2011 BUMPS FOR BOOMERS program. Any comments about the program design, coaching quality, knowledge you gained, new skills you learned and/or the degree to which we achieved your personal goals would be appreciated.

I had high expectations due to the website and the participants' comments--these expectations were met. I learned so much, it is exciting to learn new skills and improve.

It proved that you cannot properly learn to ski the bumps by reading or watching a video. You need to have the coaching feedback from your actual performance at the time when you either do it right or wrong. The immediate feedback is essential.
3/17/11 3:34PM

I got better at steeper and steeper bumps. by the last few runs I was willing to try anything and was having fun.
3/14/11 8:48PM

I came in as a pretty good skier and left as a much better one. The program simply changed the way ski.
3/14/11 7:20PM

Got just what I was looking for--a new approach. The instructors made it easy to understand and progress.
3/14/11 7:15PM

I am so happy to know how to ski bumps now without getting as tired and sore as I used to. I'm looking forward to skiing into my 80's!
3/14/11 4:06PM

the approach is excellent and build a solid foundation for all types of skiing. the coaching is consistent and amazing progress is made in a few days. by the final day we were doing double balck bump runs (slowly, with some room to improve style!) and also were able to do powder skiing (11" of new snow that day) and a sampler of tree skiing. also, the folks who come aree always an interesting roup and the evening dinners with others in the class are always fascinating...gk

The most important aspect is a consistent, steady, focus on the same things everyday. The coach quality is superb. These guys must be some of the most experienced instructors and have impressive credentials. They are also personable and very good at directly pointing out where improvement is necessary--to a group of skiers who are not used to criticism even of a constructive nature. Although I initally felt that we were stopping too much, in retrospect, pushing too hard just makes the students tired and less able to effectivey participate in the learning--so my agreement with a good pace. The most productive time I had was when larry was skiing directly behind me, calling out moves and coaching literally on the fly. I have a solid base for a greatly improved approach to skiing.
3/5/11 1:14PM

I enjoyed the program, especially having the same instructor for 4 days so they could get to now your strengths and weaknesses. My ability to ski moguls definitely improved.
3/4/11 8:25PM

I loved the course. It added another dimension to my skiing skills and techniques. I also like the variety of instructors, which gave me the opportunity to try different 'personalities'. I did the 3-day option, which didn't leave enough time to learn more about 'reading' moguls. But I plan on doing another day this Dec.
2/28/11 12:49AM

The program design is excellent. The coaching quality is first rate. I learned skiing techniques that are going to make me better skier in all terrain, groomed or off trail. My personal goals from this program were exceeded beyond my imagination. Thank you for the great experience.
2/28/11 8:33AM

Program well designed and orchestrated. I learned new skill not only in how to approach bumps but in my overall skiing. I feel much more balanced now.
2/1/11 6:07AM

I was impressed by the abilityof the coaches to identify our problems and the immediate feedback to correct them Instilled confidence in my skiing Liked the teaching style Third day did lots of skiing---Great day
1/26/11 4:29PM

The program was extremely well-designed and the quality of the coaches was much higher than I have ever experienced. I learned a number of skills and I was suprised to have improved so much in four days.
1/24/11 4:59PM

The day Joe skied with us I felt like I had a private lesson. I felt save even on runs that were over my ability. The technic we learned made sense to me and after trying it out in Park City found that I could ski runs I would never have attempted or chosen to ski. All overall it was a great success. I would come next year again but choose to be in a lower skill level class so I could more concentrate on form.
1/24/11 12:52AM

I really liked the individual feedback from Larry. He continually told you what you needed to be doing and watched you ski. A lot of instructors would tell you what you needed to do then ski down the mountain not watching to see if you were doing it or not on a consistent basis.
1/24/11 12:06AM

The program design was perfect - two days on ski boards was enough time to deconstruct and then reconstruct my skiing. Coaching was high quality, the time passed so quickly and the content was so varied I was never bored or distracted. We explored a good variety of terrain and reinforced all the new skills on the final two days on regular skis. I feel like a totally different skier, capable and confident anywhere. Can't wait to try it out in Canada!
1/24/11 11:41AM

since it was task oriented the drills were easily transferable to the task at hands, bumps.
1/24/11 11:35AM

Very well designed Excellent coaching Achieved more than expected Sam and Joe were both excellent
1/24/11 11:26AM

the program was great and it seemed to me we all received a lot of individualized attention. I think it all clicked but because I am so overly cautious I didn't make as much progress as I had hoped. This absolutely wasn't the fault of the program - I just need to develop more confidence - next year I'll make more improvement. Thanks for everything, its a great program.
1/24/11 11:21AM

This was my first lesson and I was happy with the results. Larry is an excellent teacher, stressed the new techniques we needed to apply and didn't let up when we were not executing properly.
1/24/11 11:18AM

The coaches and the other participants put me at ease. It was the perfect learning environment. I could not believe my progress, and was extreemly happy with the new skills that I have obtained.
1/23/11 9:09AM

I really appreciated the level of personal attention I got from Larry and Joe. I felt that they were able to identify weaknesses quickly, explain what I was doing wrong effectively, and then help me to overcome poor habits in a supportive and encouraging atmosphere.
1/21/11 1:22PM

The program exceeded my expectations in that the group size was manageable and the instructor was very positive and would help each individual's "problem areas." You also handled the difficult situation of having a participant "way over her head" without it affecting the rest of the group significantly.
1/20/11 3:31PM

Excellent design and coaches
1/20/11 10:28AM

Excellent program. Made me refocus on some skiing basics
1/19/11 2:20PM

Excelent desing and excelent coaching
1/19/11 11:14AM

It was terrific. I feel my bump skiing has improved 100%--way more than I thought possible.
1/18/11 3:55PM

Program really simplified skiing. Identified balance/technique issues, came away with clear game plan on how to ski Bumps (and everything else) better.
1/17/11 9:00PM

Sam was great! I really enjoyed his teaching. The program gave me a host of new knowledge. Applying that info to muscle memory requires more than 3 to 4 daya
1/17/11 8:40PM

completely changed my skiing technique - to the better. I liked very much Joe's individualized advices.
1/16/11 6:14PM

I felt the instructors took genuine interest in helping me improve my skiing abilities, and not just on moguls. Size of class was just right.
1/14/11 1:16PM

I enjoyed the program. I understand the mechanics of contemporary skiing much better now. I liked working with Sam and Joe. I think I improved some, but getting where I want to go will require lots of practice. I wish we had spent more time in the bumps but I don't regret the time we spent drilling mechanics.
1/13/11 9:34PM

Brilliant. The skiing through the trees on the way down on the last day when snowing was some of the most beautiful glorious skiing I have ever experienced- priceless. I think it required the whole 4 days for complete confidence if in a group lesson. The programme needs to be at the beginning of your stay in Aspen. I would like to see the website offer individual tuition more obviously as I would have arranged that earlier in my stay rather than wait for the programme. I wish I had ventured into the mogul slope myself a little more, I probably needed to be pushed into that.
1/13/11 6:09PM

Met my expectations. I will look forward to skiing almost all of Ajax instead of only the groomers
1/13/11 7:51AM

Superlative instruction resulting in improved skiing in and out of the bumps. Coaches: Alan, Joe, Sam and Larry--intensely serious teachers, expert skiers, fine people. My best ski instruction in 20 years. Thanks!
12/30/10 8:39AM

Did learn some techniques but process was too "painful". Alan repeated himself and insisted we answer him out loud. Too much talk; not enough show. Explained technique with "imaginary" moguls, when real ones existed.
12/29/10 7:02AM

1. The instructor I had (Larry) was a great fit for me personally. My skills improved more with him than with any other ski instructor I've ever had. 2. I am somewhat concerned about the use of videotaping, since it's obviously not done for instructional purposes. (In fact, not all video of us skiing was even shown to us.) I hope that if you use that material on your website, you seek permission from the individuals involved in the particular clips. I would not want any video of me to be used in any promotional material unless I OK'd it. That's really my only concern about the program. (Using anonymous comments, like from this survey, is fine with me.)
12/26/10 12:13AM

I had a wonderful time.I wish I could have done even better, but I took away some new skills and "tools"to work with in Jan. I liked that Sam pushed us to ski a lot and talk less! I definitely feel more in control and have less "fear" than before, am beginning to feel a certain thrill for facing down the hill and am gaining more confidence in my ability soon (I hope) to ski through the bumps as gracefully as you guys! I am eagerly imagining certain runs at Brighton that I will attack soon. Remember I am a thoughtful skier! Hehe. Thanks for the program and I hope to finally emerge from the intermediate rut or at least glimpse the exit!
12/23/10 5:31PM

It taught me skills that improved my overall skiing, in addition to teaching me bump skills.
12/23/10 9:56AM

Sense of accomplishment and personal comfort throughout program. Still practice controlled bump turns in my sleep. Miss all of you.
12/23/10 9:47AM

Greatly increased overall skiing ability. First time learning to ski moguls. Gained confidence in my abilities.
